Aarhus

Aarhus is Denmark’s second largest city and one of the oldest cities in Scandinavia. At the same time it has one of the youngest populations, partially due to the great number of students. The Vikings founded the city around the year 770 primarily due to its advantageous location near the river and the sea. Historical sites can still be found throughout the city, which gives the city a vibrant mix of youthful energy and blasts from the past. Aarhus University leaves its clear mark on the city with its unique architecture and more than 40,000 students, which is the highest concentration of students in Denmark.

Culture
Today the city has more than 300,000 inhabitants and it is known as an innovative city with a numerous cultural activities, restaurants and shopping possibilities. Aarhus has been selected shopping city number one in Scandinavia and is also known in Denmark as the city of cafés. Furthermore, the city offers several relaxing areas such as parks, beaches and forrests. You can choose to stroll round the Latin Quarter, shopping streets or shopping centers, relax at one of the many cafés or visiting some of the historical sites or  cultural attractions.

Business Aarhus
Aarhus is known as the Capital of Wind Energy – and with good reason: Nowhere else in the world will you find a similar concentration of companies covering the entire value chain within wind turbine design, development and production.

The greater Aarhus area has one of Europe’s highest concentrations of specialist businesses within food manufacturing, from farmers and food manufacturers to global cooperatives and gastronomy. Moreover, the Port of Aarhus is Denmark’s international port. In recent years the port has strengthened its position as Denmark’s largest container port. The size of the port also allows big cruise ships to visit Aarhus.
