AU professor to help decide fundamental rights in the EU

Professor Jens Vedsted-Hansen from the Department of Law at Aarhus University, Business and Social Sciences, is a new member of the Management Board of the EU's Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA). An agency which works to protect citizens’ rights.

In future, the protection of European citizens’ fundamental rights will be ensured with the help of Professor Jens Vedsted-Hansen from the Department of Law at Aarhus University, Business and Social Sciences. Thanks to his many years of research and high level of expertise within the field of human rights, in July 2012 he was appointed as a new member of the Management Board of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA).

- I am delighted to be appointed to the Management Board of the Agency for Fundamental Rights. Not just because it’s positive that Denmark has appointed a person with relevant experience as a researcher to the post, but also because the appointment highlights the fact that we at the Department of Law at Aarhus University can certainly stand shoulder to shoulder with our international peers, says Jens Vedsted-Hansen.

As a member of FRA’s Management Board, Jens Vedsted-Hansen will be helping to define FRA’s priorities. It is precisely this type of work where Jens Vedsted-Hansen’s possesses considerable experience as he is already a member of various executive boards, for example  that of the Danish Institute for Human Rights.
